According to stories, Katherine Hepburn sought solace by swimming in the Long Island Sound. Minorcan is the project by Asheville resident, Ryan Anderson, who seeks a similar solace by writing and recording music in his basement. “Rock Alone” is the genesis of the forthcoming album, ROCK ALONE, by Minorcan. This is a song written by a former lonely kid dedicated to other lonely kids out there hiding in their basements from a global pandemic, fleeing their house to avoid bomb blasts, scraping mud off their floors after a natural disaster, and on and on. Yes, it’s bleak out there, but you are not alone. Pick up any rock, instrument, camera, paint brush, pen, and call it, “home.” Anderson conceived of "Rock Alone" when digging through old records, inspired by House of Tomorrow era The Magnetic Fields, the Jim Carroll Band’s “I Want the Angel,” and Lawrence Hayward’s Denim.

New Song!

“it is officially time for us to jump in our transporter and head into 2025. One of the records we’ll be looking out for is the new Minorcan record, Rock Alone, which features the tasty treat we’ve got streaming down below. Listening through the tune, the musical style falls somewhere between the work of Bruce Springsteen and Eels, offering up a left of the dial version of classic songwriting. It’s an apt time for the release here, as it’s a love song, disguised as an arachnid attack, with the love interest striking our narrator. If you’re looking for a little tasty morsel inside, might I suggest the little guitar shuffled at 1:43; it totally brightened my day over here. Rock Alone is out in February of next year my friends!” - Austin Town Hall
