“The old aphorism “alone, not lonely” comes to mind listening to Rock Alone; it may just be Anderson and a drum machine on the tape, but the writing reflects somebody plugged into community, family, and other fulfilling relationships and urgently but happily wanting to underscore their importance (to him, to us as a species).”
“For fans of Robyn Hitchcock, Graham Parker, Elliott Murphy, Garland Jeffries, Anton Barbeau and other like-minded introspective pop explorers with a great sense of humour and the ability to couch it in a catchy melody and an honest lyric that comes from the heart.”
“Rock Alone is bold and abrasive, a record that does not take shit from anybody. He is a rocker, who makes his guitar scream and howl as he strangles the neck of his instrument.”

LIVE PERFORMANCE VIDEOS:
“Minorcan makes personal rock while drawing upon the kind of American power pop and guitar rock that we all grew up on. There’s a lot of soulfulness put into this record…the angular attack of his axe is what gives Rock Alone its power, and charm.”

BIO:
MINORCAN stands distinct in presence, character, rock ‘n' roll spirit and creates songs that come from an intimate heart, embracing the world and all within. These are songs bred in the aligning differences of intuition and instinct, music that merges impassioned energy with creative guile.
MINORCAN is a basement arena rock band currently based in Asheville, NC. Having already released music under his own name in the early 2000s on Bi-Fi Records and Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records, Ryan Anderson founded MINORCAN in 2010, naming it in reference to the swampy, coastal area of North Florida where he was originally born and raised. With a full line-up, Minorcan has self-released a trio of albums; each reveling in their organic embrace of indie rock and alt pop. Across those well-received releases and numerous keenly welcomed ear virulent singles, Anderson and his band equally draw on roots rock and punk to weave a generously individual sound.
With a rich reputation for dynamic live shows MINORCAN has more recently seen Anderson as a one-person rock n roll tour-de-force, earning suggestions that he is giving the best performances of his 20+ year career. This organic energy has similarly fueled his songwriting and music as his forthcoming new album, Rock Alone testifies.
Rock Alone , the 4th Minorcan album, was self-released on vinyl in February 2025 featuring eight new songs. The album revels in a rich palette of creative fertility around a heart courted by instinct, devilment and the kaleidoscope of love.
“The MINORCAN sound is a proposal maybe best described as a punk meets heartland rock bred adventure…Rock Alone is a real treat of a release and proof that in the right hands rock ‘n’ roll is a spark for lusty pleasure.”
